Lazy Days
Okay - I am officially struggling. I am falling into my same old pattern of working out a couple times a week and then doing nothing the rest of the time. I have really been in this mode for about three weeks now.
I started the week off with good intentions. I was going to run three times outside in order to prep for next week, when I officially begin training for the Bloomsday 12k run. On Tuesday, I ended up running inside because it was near freezing - but I did run. I then went that night and lifted weights. Since then, I haven’t really done anything. The freezing weather ended up turning into snow. The kids school got canceled. Work got busy. All the normal excuses.
But I know better. If I wanted to, I could have made exercise happen. Maybe not running outside, but I could have done something. The problem is more my attitude. I have really struggled with motivation. I am excited by my weight loss so far, and by my current level of fitness. But lately all I want to do is come home and veg in front of a tv. Winter is almost over, and it can’t end soon enough for me.
So today, I have an outside run scheduled with my uncle. It’s mid 40’s temperature wise, and raining hard. But this is why I have a buddy. I might want to get out of it, he might want to get out of it, but together, we’ll go. Maybe that’s the solution. I need someone to run with on the other two days so that I have accountability. I think I know the right person for the job. I’ll have to ask her on Monday.
Here’s to all of us struggling a bit right now. Let’s all hang in there. It will get better…
