Weekly Weigh in
I am up 3 pounds from where I was on May 23rd - when I reached 20 pounds lost for the year.
I’ve noticed that for me, my eating habits are sort of like the ocean - best not to turn your back on it. I relaxed after the 23rd, started compromising on things I hadn’t been eating the prior month. I had ice cream a couple of times, pizza a couple of times, went out to dinner a couple of times. Next thing I knew, my weight was back up.
I still struggle with the concept that the changes I’m making aren’t a temporary thing so that I’ll lose weight. These are changes I’m making so I can be my healthiest and fittest for the rest of my life. The weight loss is a side benefit.
It’s not to say that I’ll never eat those foods again. But I do think for the forseeable future I need to stay conscious as to what I’m eating and what’s my game plan.
Overall - I’m very happy with my results so far this year. My weight is the lowest it’s been since I started cycling. I am looking forward to it paying dividends as I start to add more hills to my workouts.

Having a plan is very important, and not making exceptions. I always find that unless I have planned things out, it is very easy to make an exception and eat something I shouldn’t. Then, if momentum builds with one exception here and another there, poor eating habits become the norm. Of course, it works both ways, because you can also get momentum with healthy eating habits.
