Cycle Lake Cavanaugh
Mark and I cycled the hilly 40 mile ride to and around Lake Cavanaugh. The average temperature was a brisk 39 degrees (not counting wind chill). When we got to the lake, it still had a layer of ice on top, and there were snow banks about five feet high on the side. The road, however, was clear, so we had to keep going.
This was both or our first rides outside this year. We picked a tougher route because we have Chilly Hilly coming up next week. I was very pleased with the ride. The average speed wasn’t great, but that’s okay. I keep my bike in the middle ring (instead of dropping to granny), and I didn’t use any calories on the 3 hour ride (to train my body to burn fat).
