Run/Walk on treadmill
Ran/Walked for 30 minutes, covered 2.4 miles.
My left hamstring was tight, I felt my shins (although they are getting better), and my calf felt good. I am fairly certain that the stair climbing reps are helping stretch out my calf in a good way.

Run/Walk on Treadmill
My first time running this week. Last Saturday’s stair session really trashed my calfs, and I am only now able to walk up and down stairs easily. Of course I am going to do another stair session this Saturday.
I still feel my shins a bit, but this was the easiest time I have had running so far. I want to build up slowly and follow my game plan, but I felt like I could have run a lot more of the two miles.

Walk Edmonds Hill
Did a hill walk with Mark.
My calfs have been incredibly sore since my stair workout on Saturday. I was so sore on Sunday that I skipped that workout. Monday is my normal day off.
I need to run on Wednesday, it should be interesting.

Arlington Stairs
Cross Training Day…
Walk Stairs with Mark, Robin, her friend Lisa and the two dogs. Walked 100 flights of stairs with 1,000 feet of elevation gain. It actually turned out to be 2,310 stairs (both up and down) total. We did 10 sets of 231 steps.
I forgot my heart rate monitor, but I am fairly certain I was in the red zone for most of the trips up.
Saturdays is suppose to be my “fun” cross training day. Mark and I need to rethink what we consider to be fun…

Run/Walk on Treadmill
walked 1:50 and ran 1:10.
Shins still feel it. I think I could run more, but I am afraid my calf will start acting up. Maybe its best to not run more as it would probably bug my shins more.

2010 Marathon Goal - Marathon du Medoc
Karl wrote a great article on how to turn your goals into a reality rather than just a good idea. It boils down to - You need a date (ie the event), and a plan on how you are going to get there. Smaller goals along the way are also a really good idea (if not essential).
The marathon I am committing to is on September 11, 2010. It is the Marathon du Medoc in France. I have (a) never ran a marathon before (in fact I started the year as a non-runner), and (b) I have never been to France. So this is going to be a 2-fer as far as things I’d like to do in my lifetime.
The plan was developed by Lisa, a running coach and marathoner. It tells me what I need to do every day between now and September 11th - at least as far as workouts are concerned. It takes into account that I am a non-runner, and builds me up to a marathon runner. Nine months is long enough to accomplish the goal in a sane fashion.
I am still working on short term goals. Right now, I am thinking of picking runs I’ve always wanted to do or that are known for something as buildup events. I don’t need to do events as buildups, but I think it will be more fun. I haven’t settled on these yet, but I am leaning toward running the St Patrick’s day dash on March 14th, and Bloomsday on May 2nd. I know I will want to do a half-marathon around June, but I haven’t picked on yet.

Run/Walk on Treadmill
My shins bothered me more than on Sunday, but I did pretty much the same workout. Walked for 2 minutes, ran for 1 minute.
My goal is to just get comfortable running right now.
